The sale of properties from Millers Point, Dawes Point and The Rocks is financing the construction of fit-for-purpose social housing in NSW.
Construction of new social housing properties began in 2015. As of March 2021, a total of 1,505 units have been completed and 354 units are currently under construction as a result of the Millers Point sales.

New social housing funded by the proceeds have been built in the wider Sydney area across the Albury, Bathurst, Blacktown, Campbelltown, Canada Bay, Canterbury-Bankstown-Cessnock, Coffs Harbour, Cumberland, Fairfield, Georges River, Hawkesbury, Lake Macquarie, Lane Cove, Liverpool, Newcastle, Orange, Parramatta, Penrith, Ryde, Shellharbour, Singleton, Strathfield, Sutherland, Sydney, Wagga Wagga, and Wollongong LGAs.
Developments are also occurring in areas of identified need for social housing, including Bayside, Canterbury-Bankstown, Central Coast, Clarence Valley, Cumberland, Dubbo, Griffith, Liverpool, Newcastle, Maitland, Penrith, Port Macquarie-Hastings, Queanbeyan-Palerang, Shoalhaven, Tamworth and Tweed LGAs.
A separate bank account was set up to manage the proceeds of the Millers Point sales, which tracks revenue received and outlays on new dwellings. The accounts are reported in the FACS annual report.
